What is Dermatoglyphics?

Dermatoglyphics is the genetic science of fingerprints.

Interestingly we all are aware that fingerprints are unique and no two individuals have the same fingerprints. The uniqueness of the fingerprints is formed early in the embryo stage when the child is still a fetus inside the stomach. According to scientists, there is a correlation between the development of the fingerprints and the neocortex.

While fingerprints are unique they have patterns which are consistent, the three patterns of fingerprints are the “Whorl”, “Loop”, and the “Arch”. The Whorl is further divided into 6 subpatterns and the loop has 2 subpatterns, and the Arch also has 2 subpatterns, there are also two unclassified patterns.

The entire mankind’s fingerprints have been segregated as per these patterns and subpatterns.

Data has been collated for several centuries on these patterns and based upon this empirical data detailed psychological profiling of individuals has been done. Since the 1950s and onwards advance countries such as Japan, USA and Russia have been using Dermatoglyphics to identify individuals with key skills.

Dermatoglyphics allows us to identify skills early in life as to who will be a sportsman, a writer, a scientist, an artist and so on. This allows the parents to nurture and coach their children in these skills. In adults, it helps to identify core and natural skills and shape our careers and interests in those directions.

Dermatoglyphics is the scientific study of fingerprints, lines, mounts and shapes of hands. Dermatoglyphics refers to the making of naturally occurring ridges on certain body parts, namely palms, fingers, soles, and toes
